The Donald Trump Campaign used the words “fake news” throughout his campaign. Is fake news a real thing? Junior Jalen Plath stated, “Fake news has been getting worse every year. People like to make a story more interesting so they make up fake items.” There are many examples of fake news. For instance, Wikipedia is somewhat fake news because people can publish whatever they want, but it may not be true or credible. Junior Logan Bang said, “Fake news is something that has to be taken seriously because it can cause a lot of issues as well as harm to others.” When looking at an article, people need to be aware of who wrote it. They also need to have the right tools to be able to make an accurate judgment if the news is credible and real. A list of credible sources could include cnn.com, foxnews.com, and newyorktimes.com. Eighth Grader Chase Aberle commented, “I try to always find credible sources when writing so that I am not passing on any fake news. I use what I’ve been taught to determine if the source is credible.” Always be careful when finding a credible source to make sure your not being fake in providing fake news.
