It was only here for a short time, but it took the country by storm. Yes, I’m talking about the Unicorn Frappuccino. Starbucks came out with the drink on Wednesday, April 19th, and ended the craze on Sunday, April 23rd. Starbucks ran out of this sweet and sour drink long before the 23rd. Senior Grace Drewicke said, “I went to Fargo on Friday the 21st to get the Unicorn Frappuccino, and they were all sold out in the state of North Dakota and at the Moorhead Starbucks.” Throughout the year, Starbucks offers drinks to celebrate the flavor of the seasons, and they’re only available for a limited time. Many Starbucks ran out of ingredients to make the Unicorn Frappuccino. Emily from the Starbucks Inquiry said, “The Unicorn Frappuccino came with a bit of magic – as you sipped and stirred, the color of the beverage magically changed from purple to pink and the flavors evolved from sweet and fruity to tangy and tart. The more you swirled, the more pink and tangy the beverage became!” The drink starts off with a sweet mango flavor, then transforms to sour. It finishes with whipped cream sprinkled with pink and blue fairy powders. Sophomore Alexus Able said, “The look doesn’t correlate with the taste. I felt so lied to. There was so much hype behind getting the ’Pretty unicorn frappe’ but it definitely won’t meet people’s expectations.” Many people say that the frappuccino has a lot of calories, the amount of three snicker bars. The amount of calories in a tall(small) drink is 280 and 39 grams of sugar. The amount in a grande(medium) drink is 410 and 59 grams of sugar. The amount in a venti(large) drink is 500 and 76 grams of sugar. Many people like the sweet and sour combination, but others don’t. The legend is real, but it was only with us for a limited time. The Unicorn Frappuccino is gone but never forgotten.
