The National Football League has had their yearly draft on Thursday, April 27th to Saturday, April 29th. It was held in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and the future of football may change forever. The draft day opened with the Cleveland Browns holding the opening pick. To no one’s surprise they picked Myles Garrett from Texas A&M who plays defensive end. In one of the most controversial draft day trades, the Chicago Bears traded up one spot with the San Francisco 49ers to pick up Mitchell Trubisky, the quarterback from North Carolina. Many people watching wondered what was happening, such as Junior Taylor Nosal who said, “It was a terrible pick; he isn’t as good as the other quarterbacks in the draft, and he is a big project.” The NFL draft this year had the most draft day trades than any other before it. Teams seemed to almost give their picks away just as the New England Patriots traded every singe pick they had in the draft. Physical Education teacher Mr. Meyer talked about the draft selection and said, “The draft this year was a mix of great picks and awful picks; most teams like the Browns picked smart and some teams like the Bears messed up almost every pick.” Every pick in the draft is important, yet the last pick has a disappointing name, Mr. Irrelevant. This year the 253 pick in the draft was the quarterback from Ole Miss and was selected by the Denver Broncos.
