Walking into a clinic with nerves as the minutes countdown until it is time to go under is what a few of Barnesville’s students experienced this past month. Everyone dreads the day of getting their wisdom teeth out. The process of going under and the recovery is what most fear. However, after talking with students who have gotten their wisdom teeth removed, all said that overall it was fine. One of these students was senior Brady Martz. Martz had his wisdom teeth removed about a month ago, and when asked if he had any complications he said, “No, I didn’t have any. Overall, it went well.” He was relieved that it went so smoothly. On the other hand, junior Emily Spilde did not have the best luck. Spilde’s recovery process was a little longer because she had to go back in for a dry socket (infection). When people think of getting wisdom teeth removed, most think of the funny videos showing all the humiliating things the person does. Mother of junior Grant Inniger, Holly Inniger shared the comical stuff he was doing. Inniger said, “He kept asking if he did good, then he would snap and give a thumbs up multiple times.” Spilde can relate to Grant. After she woke up, Spilde said funny things, and explained, “Apparently, I woke up and wanted McDonalds. On the ride home, I kept asking if Jonny (her boyfriend) was coming over.” These moments are what make the experience memorable. Getting wisdom teeth removed is an easy procedure that happens every day, and has occurred frequently in Barnesville High lately.
