As the frigid temperatures return, so does one of Barnesville High’s favorite sports and seven of Barnesville High’s greatest seniors. Seniors Grant Inniger and Jason Henrickson were interviewed on the upcoming basketball season. Both seniors explained how they will miss the sport they have grown up with since they were old enough to play. When asked what they will miss most about playing basketball in Barnesville, Henrickson stated, “ Being part of the same team and playing with the same guys since traveling basketball.” Both seniors were asked what their team’s biggest struggle will be this year, and both had the same answer: “Beating Hawley.” Henrickson said that, “Hawley will be returning most of their team and if everyone stays healthy they could be some serious competition for the Barnesville Trojans.” Though Hawley may be a big struggle, the Barnesville boys have “an amazing team chemistry,” stated Inniger. Inniger further declared that he “wants everyone to come out, support, and cheer loud because it’s going to be a big year, and the team needs the fans.” As the boys plan to graduate in the spring, they were asked what their plans were for next year. Inniger will be attending MState Fergus where he will begin the start of his path to becoming a physical education teacher and starting his college golf career. Henrickson will be headed to MSUM where he is looking forward playing intramural basketball. This is an exciting time of year for fans and players, but a bit of a bittersweet one as everyone experiences their final go-around with this great group of seniors.
