This season the Barnesville Trojans have made many changes to the starting lineup. The Barnesville Trojans are 8-2 this season losing only to Hawley and Breckenridge this year. If you haven’t had the chance to meet the new players and listen to what they had to say, this is what they would have said about how their first year of starting went. The first person is senior Adrian O’Brien. He has never played football at the varsity level before, so when asked how nervous he was for his first game, Adrian O’Brien replied saying, “ I don’t really get nervous, I just like the competition. I just go with the flow of the game.” O’Brien plays cornerback next to Chase Brenner. When asked if he was happy with the outcome of the season, O’Brien replied, “ No, because I was not satisfied with being defeated by Hawley and Breckenridge by 1 point each; however, I am happy about being section champs, but not satisfied with just being section champions.” O’Brien said the reason he joined football his senior year was because of “ A lot of my good buddies play football, and I knew I was competitive enough to play.” O’Brien has really contributed to the team, this season especially, during the section championship game.  O’Brien intends to attend Moorhead State for tw0 years of college after high school.

The other person that is new to varsity is 8th grader Jonny Robideau. Since, Jonny made a big leap forward moving from junior high football to the varsity level so quickly. There were a lot of changes to the playing style. When asked how nervous he was for his first varsity game, Robideau said, “I was pretty nervous, but the team we were playing wasn’t very good.” When Jonny was asked when he found his love for football, he said, “In 4th grade I joined football, and I really enjoyed it and was pretty good so I stayed in it.” The last question asked was what his favorite memory is from this season so far, and Robideau said, “Beating Hawley in the section championship, especially since they broke our undefeated season during the regular season.” Now you know a little bit more about the new faces on the starting lineup this season.
