The girls basketball season is fast approaching as their season starts on Monday, November 12th. As a senior this year, Wylie Lewis is one of the team captains. She is a very dedicated player since Wylie has been in basketball as long as it’s been available to her. Almost every morning since the beginning of school, Wylie has came in before school to shoot hoops. She has become a well rounded player and can play any position thrown at her. When asked what her biggest struggle will be this year, she said, “My own personal challenge will be taking a big leadership role. As a team I think it will be getting into the rhythm of things.” Some exciting games to see are against Hawley and Pelican because they will be some tough competition. Wylie also said, “ I am very excited because it’s my last season, and I am gonna make the most of it. We’re gonna have a blast this season.“ Being in basketball has taught her a lot of valuable skills that she can take into the rest of her life. When asked about playing basketball in college, she said she would like to but isn’t too sure because she wants to focus on her studying. She has always loved basketball, and she said, “It’s my favorite sport because it holds you accountable for everything. It’s an overall team effort. You can have so much fun playing the game. It’s a 5 month long sport so you have to put a lot of time and effort into.” She also encouraged anyone interested to try basketball out and experience why it’s her favorite sport.
